Dior Glitter Lipstick Review: See the Sparkle With Photos

The other night, I was doing my evening scroll on TikTok when I stumbled on multiple videos of a product I’d never seen before: lipstick! Just kidding—sort of. It was lipstick, but not like any I’d ever seen. What I was watching was Dior’s new Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Sequin in action.

I rarely find a beauty product that quite literally takes my breath away. After all, the influx of products that come to my door every day is intense—so when something lands and I’m shaken by it, it means something. And at first glance, this limited-edition liquid lipstick seems like a normal lip product…except that it transforms into a glittery finish once you press your lips together. You might be thinking, “That’s not possible,” but folks, the sorcery is real.

How is this even possible? I had the same question, so I tapped cosmetic chemist Ginger King to explain the mind-boggling formula behind it. “What makes the glitter appear is the encapsulated mica on the ingredient list,” she explains. This type of mica is pressure-sensitive, she says, meaning it releases its sparkle when pressure is applied.

Before getting into the application, let’s talk facts. The Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Sequin is available in 10 shades, including the iconic Dior red, 999; the colors were designed to make the most of a unique, glittery finish that elevates any makeup look.

The brand recommends a few tips when applying the lipstick: Start by applying a generous layer of the formula, letting your lips dry for five minutes, and then, once the formula is completely dry, press your lips together to reveal the glittery finish.

I did exactly what Dior recommended. On my clean lips, I first applied my current favorite brown lip liner, About Face’s Fix Lip Pencil in Smoked, to give me some guidance. Immediately after, I went in with a generous layer of Dior’s shade 100, a medium-nude hue I could see myself wearing on a day-to-day basis. I let it dry, then smudged my lips together to reveal the most beautiful lip I have ever worn.

All ten shades of the Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Sequin swatched.

When I saw the video reviews, I was worried that the glitter would shed or I would feel it on my lips—but none of the above happened. It stayed put through lunch, so much so that I didn’t feel the need to reapply. Even better? The longer I wore it, the more glitter appeared (probably because you’re constantly pressing your lips together throughout the day). And it felt as comfortable as any liquid lipstick, and was easy to remove with my normal double-cleansing routine.
